Ayam Cemani – The All-Black Chicken
The Ayam Cemani is a rare and exotic chicken breed from Indonesia, famous for its striking all-black appearance. The name comes from the Indonesian words:
- “Ayam” meaning chicken
- “Cemani” meaning completely black

Physical Characteristics:
- Color: Deep black from head to toe — feathers, beak, eyes, tongue, legs, toenails, skin, meat, bones, and even organs.
- Size:
- Roosters: 4.5–6.5 lbs (2–3 kg)
- Hens: 3.5–4.5 lbs (1.5–2 kg)
- Feathers: Glossy black with a greenish-purple shimmer in sunlight.
- Comb & Wattles: Black to dark gray, same with the earlobes.
