Bielefelders Chicks

Bielefelder chicks are known for their autosexing ability, meaning you can often tell males from females just by their down color at hatch. They are fluffy and robust-looking, with strong, healthy builds right from the start.

• Male chicks typically have a lighter, more yellowish or tan color overall with a small dot or spot on their head.
• Female chicks are darker, usually a deeper brown or chipmunk-striped down their backs, with clear darker markings and no head spot.

In general, Bielefelder chicks are very hardy, fast-growing, and have calm, friendly temperaments even at a young age. They’re a large breed, so their chicks tend to be a little bigger than average from the beginning.
